Dear RiverGrace Family,
I'm sorry that the Sunday worship service needed to be cancelled last week. If the #8 signal is raised we will not have our service or any activities. Even if the #8 signal is expected to go up within 3 hours of an activity, the activity will be cancelled. The problem is that public transportation shuts down, especially buses and ferries.
Last week it seems the #8 signal was not really necessary, but nonetheless, we'll still follow those guidelines for our church activities. Hopefully that will avoid some confusion. If it's only #3, activities will go ahead as planned.
P. Tommy will be preaching this coming Sunday from Nehemiah 5. The title of the sermon will be "Stop Thief." In the previous sermon on Nehemiah 4, we studied about the problems and issues that were caused by the people outside of Jerusalem... primarily the critics and those who threatened physical attack on those workers who were rebuilding Jerusalem's walls. In chapter 5 Nehemiah talks about the internal problems and issues caused by those people who should have been supporters. Unfortunately those kinds of things happen today in churches and other ministries organizations. Perhaps we can learn some lessons from how Nehemiah solved the problems.
Rita will be leading the worship songs. After the service we'll have our fellowship lunch and celebrate the July birthdays.
The Wednesday AM and PM Connect Groups will be meeting as normal this coming week.
