Dear RiverGrace family,
Last Sunday we had a memorable service honoring our mothers, and mothers-to-be. thanks to Michael.
This coming Sunday we'll have a prayer of dedication for the Connect Group leaders. We are grateful for each of you who have stepped up and are willing to lead a group. May God use each one of us to care for others in our church, to help them grow in their faith, and to share God's love with your friends and guests whom you invite to join our groups.
God can use all of us to help build his kingdom. We can all make excuses for ourselves, like some of the Bible heroes did when God first called them. However in the end, it's not really about what we can do ourselves, but it's what we allow God to do through us.
We'll be taking a look at, what some might see, as a boring chapter in Nehemiah 3. I encourage you to read it before Sunday, if possible. Don't worry about the pronunciation of the names. Even I don't know how to pronounce them all correctly. But think about the implications of the huge task of building the walls and gates of Jerusalem, and how nearly everyone pitched in to do their part in the work, whether they were experienced or trained construction workers or not. I'll be sharing about "Wall to Wall Builders" for the sermon topic. It's very appropriate for the launch of our connect groups. We can even learn a lot from a "boring" passage of Scripture!
P. Irma will be leading the worship team and songs, and P. Tommy will be sharing a brief update / challenge for all of us as we move toward the start of the Connect Groups. Lunch will follow the service, as always.
At 3:00pm this coming Sunday there will be a joint meeting of Yan Yue and RiverGrace regarding RiverGrace's becoming independent. Rev. Kato Chow will be there from HKEC to answer questions that people may have. I encourage all of you to attend if you have no other commitments. The session will be translated.
This coming week we'll have the Wednesday morning fellowship, but because of Deacons meeting Wednesday evening, we'll have no Connect group meeting.
Next week we will have our normal Sunday schedule, but we will not meet in Tsim Sha Tsui, but in Shek Kip Mei, at United Chrisitan College. It's the school next to the church where we had the baptisms in April. It's also in the school where we had our May 1 fun day. I'll post the map again, just in case you forget how to get there.
On June 30th we'll be hiking and have a BBQ or picnic. It's the Dragon Boat public holiday. We'll give more details next week.
