Dear RiverGrace Family,
As we settle into UCC as our meeting place, we are still in the process of organizing the things that need to be done each week. I thank all of you for pitching in to help in many ways, even if you didn’t sign up to do a specific job. Sometimes that will be necessary, but we also need to have people to sign up so we can count on them to be there when it’s their turn.
As we get more organized, we will chose someone to be captain of the different crews, and that captain can send out notices to those who signed up to help for a particular Sunday. That way, you will be reminded, and we won’t have to worry about getting things set up for the activities and services, and also cleaning the school and returning it to it’s condition before we left it. I asked Principal Chan if there had been any complaints after our using the school last week. He said there were none, and that it seemed as if we had not even been there in the school! That’s the way we want it every time!
At our staff meeting on Wednesday, we talked about trying out the following schedule:
⁃ The worship team will practice at 10am as they have done in the past, in the
⁃ If you are on duty for setup, or on the IT team, please come by 10:45 to prepare
the room for the service.
⁃ At 11:15 we’ll have the pre-service prayer meeting, but we’ll do it in room B23
On November 12 we will not have our regular service at 12, but we’ll have a thanksgiving celebration at 2:30pm. We have invited guests, and sent invitations to all of our sister HKEC churches. Of the ones to whom we are sending special invitations, they have played some role in helping RiverGrace get started over the course of these 6 years. Please put that date on your calendar.
Besides the ladies preparing a worship dance, we would like to have our worship songs similar to what we did at our last anniversary. We’d like to sing an African song, a song in Tagalog, a song in English, and a song in Chinese. Besides that, we will distribute our new RG T-shirts that Sunday. We’ll also have a simple lunch before the service at 12:00, then set up on the ground-floor covered playground for the service. We expect that there will not be enough space in the geography room. After lunch, we will need anyone who can help that day.
The reason for having this service is #1, to thank God for what he has done in RiverGrace, and #2, to introduce other HKEC churches to our church and help them see possibilities of doing local missions right here in Hong Kong. As I told the pastors yesterday at the monthly pastors’ prayer meeting when I was inviting them, “You don’t have to cross the oceans to do missions, maybe you just have to cross the street.” As I thought about it later, maybe you only have to cross the hallway!
The Wednesday morning Connect Groups will meet at 11:00am, and the Wednesday PM Connect Groups, as well as the Spanish Fellowship. We’ll will meet at 7:00pm in the UCC geography room.
