Dear RG family,
This coming Sunday we'll have a concerts of prayer led by Cindy. We normally have it on the first Sunday but on the first Sunday in August we had the opportunity to have Grant and Vicky's home church pastor from New Zealand share with us... thus, moving it to this coming Sunday. Michael will lead the worship songs.
The purpose of the concerts of prayer is that we can all join together as a RiverGrace family in praise and prayer. We use the prayer time to pray for a variety of purposes, adoration, confession, petition, etc.
We also pray for various things: the needs of our world, that God would use each of us for his divine purposes, for each other and the individual needs or challenges we are facing. In this way we can support and encourage each other. If we know people are praying for us, it lifts our spirits and gives us courage to go on.
Always, we pray that God would shine his light and love through our church and through our lives to touch those around us who need to know him as their Savior.
Usually we do not have a sermon in the concerts of prayer, but sometimes we have a short devotional. Certainly we use Scripture verse read and to meditate on.
The worship service starts at noon, and will be followed by our fellowship lunch.
In other news. HKEC will have the joint baptism service on November 20. If you would like to be baptized, please consider that opportunity. At the latest we need to know by the end of September as the Yan Yue deacons approve all baptismal candidates. In terms of requirements for baptism, there is a short baptismal course that someone will lead you through to make sure you understand what baptism is and also what it is not! That course may take 3-4 weeks and includes an interview by one of the pastors at the end.
Please be in prayer for the RiverGrace church plan of 2017. We will have a leadership team retreat on Saturday, September 3. and will be discussing various options concerning the future of RiverGrace in the coming weeks.
Next Wednesday morning, Grant will continue the training of T4T in the morning fellowship that meets at 11:00am. In the evening we'll have the Cantonese class at 5:30pm, but there will not be a Life Group dinner or meeting because of the deacons' meeting.
