Dear RG family,
We thank the Lord for his blessings on our RiverGrace family. We praise him for everyone he brings to us. One of the newest couples is Grant and Vicky. Grant celebrated his 50th birthday in June, though he couldn't be there on Sunday when our we celebrated the June birthdays.
The Lord has used Grant to start many churches through the T4T training (Training For Trainers). We are grateful that he's willing to teach us more about how to tell others our story, God's story, and also helping us to train others to do the same thing. That's what discipleship is all about. We not only want to learn ourselves how to do that better, we also want to be able help others do the same thing, teach even others in an ongoing chain. That's how the Gospel has spread through the centuries to our present generation.
In the process of learning T4T, and teaching others, you will grow spiritually yourself, and you'll be able to see fruit in your life.
I encourage all of you to join the course, which will begin on Sunday at 2:45. It will be held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.
I know most of you cannot attend on weekdays, but the same course will be offered at our Wednesday morning fellowship starting July 13th, except that it will run every week.
I hope you can join us this coming Sunday as Pastor Tommy will be talking about the characteristics of the Lord's servants. When you look at some of the people God used to serve him in various ways, you might have wondered what he was thinking in choosing them! For example, when Saul was persecuting Christians in his time, why did Jesus still call him to serve him? What characteristics do we need to have today in order to be able to serve our Lord? Those are some of the issues he will deal with in his sermon called "Damascus Road."
I hope that you will be able to join us for our service at noon. Rita will be leading the worship team and we'll follow the service with our fellowship lunch. We will have a few guest joining us for lunch from other churches who will be attending the T4T course.
Next Wednesday we will continue the Cantonese class at 5:30pm. You can still invite others to attend. Life Group will also meet as normal at 7:00pm.
Next Sunday, July 17 our mother church, Yan Yue, will celebrate its 61st birthday. We will have a joint service next week and it will start at 11:00am. Please note the time change. After the service and a short break, at 1:00, we'll join Yan Yue for a half-hour prayer meeting. (There will be translation for all activities). At 2:30 there will be a prayer walk. There will be no lunch at the celebration as they are emphasizing that this will be a fast for lunch There may be some bread or snacks, for those due to health reasons, need to eat something.
