RiverGrace Weekly Newsletter

April 21, 2016

Dear friends,

The photos I posted this week on the Website and Facebook or older ones of RiverGrace activities.  (http://www.rivergraceicf.com/newsletter.html)  They are of Lin Je or Auntie Lin as some called her.  She is the mother-in-law of Sharon, who helps arrange the pianists for RiverGrace, and the grandmother of Melody and Penny, who play piano for us. She passed away on Monday. RiverGrace lost a prayer warrior.

Auntie Lin, though she could barely speak any English,  still supported RiverGrace. She helped with a cooking class and on Harmony Day. She sometimes brought food for our fellowship lunches, and joined us from time to time. I appreciated Lin Je's spirit. Maybe she was limited in what she could practically do because of the language barrier, but I still know she prayed for us and supported us in ways she could.

May God give peace to their family. Her funeral will be the evening of May 4th and the cremation ceremony will be the next morning on May 5.

This coming Sunday, Michale Krigline will be our speaker.  Michael and Vivian joined us last fall after they moved to Hong Kong. We are grateful to them for the various ways they contribute to RiverGrace, including a new English class that just started on Wednesday..

Gee will lead the worship team this week and we'll celebrate April birthdays at our fellowship lunch. I hope you can join us for the activities starting at 12:00 noon.

Next Sunday, May 1, we will not have service at the church. We will be having a joint worship with Yan Yue at the Seun Douh Camp in Fanling to celebrate RiverGrace's 5th anniversary. The service will be at 10:30.

We are encouraging everyone to be at the Fanling MTR station by 9:30.  James will be at exit A1 to direct you to the mini bus stop. Shuen and Bonnie will be at the minibus terminus to tell the driver where to go.

They will need to leave their posts by 10:00 to get to the camp themselves. I will post a map at the bottom of the RiverGrace Website (at the above URL address), and also on Facebook, just in case you need an electronic copy. I will also be handing out copies of the map on Sunday. That way, if you are late, you can still join us.

I do hope you will be able to join us. It will be a fun day with the service, lunch at the camp, and activities in the afternoon.

On May 2, we will have our family fun day at United Chrisitan College, a 5 minute walk from the Shek Kip Mei MTR station. The school will be open at 6:00 10:00am. In the morning we'll have free time to play the sports games... volleyball, basketball, table tennis or badminton. In the afternoon, after lunch, we'll have a couple group activities as well as more free time until 4:00pm.

I will also post a maps of how to get to UCC from the MTR station at Shek Kip Mei.

Next Wednesday we will have our regular activities... the Great Truth's course at 11:00am, and the Life Group, Chinese Alpha, and English class at 7:00pm

The English class got off to a good start this past Wednesday. With the different levels of English we'll likely divide the class into two groups. Those that can speak already but want to improve, and those who have only a basic level of English. You're still welcome to join us, though we've already met once.
