One of the things we do for RiverGrace services on Sunday is to start out with some short praises about how God worked during the week. One of the reasons we do this is because the Bible tells us to come into his presence with Thanksgiving. If we want God's presence with us, an attitude of gratitude is important.
Another reason we do it is simply to hear how God is working in our lives. We want to continually give thanks for what he does. When we hear these testimonies, its an encouragement to all of us.
As we talk about evangelism and how to do it this month, one of the best ways is giving a testimony about what God has done in our lives. People can argue about theology and Biblical concepts, and they do, but they can't refute and argue about the personal things that God has done in your life. That's what makes a testimony so powerful.
On Sunday I will be looking at John 9, and the testimony of a blind man that God healed. It was powerful, and the evidence was there for all to see.
I hope you can join us for our service at 12 o'clock. Andrew will be leading the worship. The service will be followed by our regular lunch, at which time we will also celebrate the February birthdays.
Next Wednesday morning at 11:00, for our combined men's and women's fellowship, we will be finishing our look at spiritual gifts.
At 7:00pm Wednesday evening we will again have our Alpha Course and Life Group fellowship. The group is flexible enough that we can have the Alpha Course in Cantonese or English, and the the Life group is bilingual. Last week we had nearly 30 in attendance.
The sign-up sheet for our May 1 RiverGrace anniversary service to be held at the Sheun Dou Camp is on the bulletin board. Since we need an accurate count of the number that will be going, please be sure to sign your name. The approximate cost of each person is $50, but it is on a free will donation basis. We will have our service in the morning, along with a baptismal service, and after lunch we will have activities together with Yan Yue Church.
