Dear RG family,
As I announced last week at the end of the service, Yan Yue Church has given the go-ahead for RiverGrace to set up a committee to look into becoming an independent church and to find a new location in which to base RiverGrace.
God has been good and RiverGrace has now grown to a point whereby the space for both churches is becoming an important issue. Rather than wait until it is too late, we feel it's important to be proactive, and start the process now, as it could take a few months to find an adequate and affordable place to meet.
As Cindy and I are moving ever closer to the time for our transition out of Hong Kong, we want the church to be settled in every way possible, so that it can continue to grow and expand.
Being independent means that we would be an independent international church under our denomination, Hong Kong Evangelical Church.
There is much work ahead in becoming legally registered, including official church membership, opening bank accounts, and the biggie, finding a suitable and affordable location.
We will be forever grateful for Yan Yue Church, which made it possible for RiverGrace to be birthed. They have been generous with their support. And, though culturally Yan Yue and RiverGrace are different, they have allowed RiverGrace to employ the strategies we felt necessary for an international church to develop, even if their own policies were different..
We will keep you posted on developments. Please pray with us that if this is the right time and direction to go, God will open the doors and provide all that is needed for this transition. Also be in prayer for the congregational meeting after the Chinese service this coming Sunday. Yan Yue will approve the 2017 plan and also discuss the proposal by RiverGrace.
This coming Sunday, P. Aime will lead us in a concerts of prayer, and Cindy will lead the worship songs. We will have our simple lunch afterwards.
We will also distribute a form which we would like everyone to fill out. If we have the responses from everyone, it will help the staff and Leadership Team to assess where we are in terms of membership and what the commitments would be regarding moving to a new location.
Next week we will have our normal Wednesday activities with the Wednesday Morning Fellowship at 11:00am, and the evening Life Group meeting at 7:00pm.
