Dear RG family,
One of the most common questions people ask about God is why he allows bad things to happen to us. Even Christians, his children, are not immune to unfortunate and terrifying events that leave suffering people.
This suffering can come by way of natural disasters, like earthquakes, typhoons, tornados, tsunamis, or famines. Or it can come via bad decisions made by people. Think of 9/11 or wars or suffering because of people living under oppressive, dictatorial governments.
Again, even Christians face all these kinds of disasters and sometimes even more so because of persecution for their faith. Where is God when all these things happen? That's the question people ask, or to put it another way, why does God allow people to suffer?
"Where Was God When...?" is the sermon topic for Sunday. You can fill in the blank as to what is in the blank. Each person may have a different unfortunate event or tragedy they have experienced in the past. Yet from the Bible, we can learn some lessons about where God is when those terrible things happen. Sometimes God works miracles. Sometimes just knowing he is with us is enough of a comfort to give us peace. Sometimes God allows things to happen that we may never understand in this life. But God is still God.
I hope you can join us this coming Sunday for our worship service at noon. Andrew will be leading worship. We'll have our fellowship lunch after the service.
It will also be movie Sunday. We'll be showing the movie called "Inside Out" in the afternoon around 3:30. It's a relatively new movie and about the different feelings people have. It's animated, but cute and funny! You may even learn something about yourself in the movie!
The movie will be shown after the hospitality meeting, led by Robert.
