Dear RG family,
As it seems we often do, we had another send-off on Sunday... this time for Myrna and Julie, who are being resettled in the US. After spending four years as asylum seekers, they can now begin to rebuild their lives in their new home. We rejoice with them, but again, will miss them being part of our RiverGrace family here in Hong Kong.
I want to invite you to join us on Sunday for our Worship service at 12:00 noon. Though the service is in English, we provide translation into Cantonese or Mandarin if it's needed. Pastor Tommy's sermon topic for this week is, "Is God Generous?
Life isn't fair to many of us, and even if it is, most of us think only about what is good for ourselves. However, God shows a better vision and way for us to live... not only thinking of ourselves. Some of his words he often repeated remind of of that... "Heaven is like this..."
Rita will be leading the worship team and songs, and we'll have our fellowship lunch after the service.
I wanted to inform you that on October 30th, we will be having a joint worship service with Yan Yue starting at 11:00am, not our regular time at 12:00. It is HKEC (Hong Kong Evangelical Church) Sunday and some of the church conference leaders will be with us to preach and share with us. HKEC Sunday usually occurs once a year.
We'll still have our fellowship lunch that day and possibly be joined by some Yan Yue brothers and sisters.
That afternoon, after lunch about 2:15pm we will have a special guest... a friend of Michael and Vivian... Rev. Ron Ching, who will do a teaching / talk on The Lord's Prayer. Even if we know “The Lord’s Prayer” by heart, do we pray it “from the heart”? This familiar prayer can teach us much about forgiveness, community, love, family, and more! That's all on October 30th.
In the afternoon of Sunday the 23rd at 2:45pm, Cindy will be doing a training session for anyone who would like to learn to pray with others. We should and can pray with others, but how effective are we? Are there things that we can learn or tools that we can use, even as we pray for someone, to be able to minister deeply to their spirits? Our goal is to have a team of people that can pray for anyone who desires to be prayed for after the service, or of course any time.
