Sometimes the Bible seems to contradict itself in certain matters. One of those issues is important, because it talks about getting into God's Kingdom. How do we get in? Is it only by grace (our faith), or is it by works? Paul tells us Ephesians that we are saved by grace, not works. James seems to say the opposite with his emphasis on works. Which one is it? Or are both somehow correct?
One of the problems comes because we misunderstand what the end time judgments. Many people think that there is only one judgement where we'll either be admitted into heaven or we'll end up in hell. Or they think that judgement will be based on whether or not we've done enough good works to balance out our evil and sinful deeds.
In fact there are different judgements, but what does that have to do with getting into God's kingdom? These are some of the issues we'll discuss on Sunday in our topic "Faith or Works?"
Cindy will lead the worship team and songs. We'll have our fellowship lunch afterwards.
The 12:00pm service will be shortened a bit as we need to leave for the special event in the afternoon when 3 of our RiverGrace ladies will be baptized... Myrna, Kyla, and Anie.
For those being baptized and any others wishing to go early to Grace Church, where the baptism will take place, I will lead that group. Cindy will lead the other group at about 2:30. Photos of all of RiverGrace people with the baptismal canidates will be taken at 3:00pm. The actual service starts at 3:30. The service will be in Chinese, but we have prepared the translation equipment.
Please be reminded that there will be no Alpha Course or Life group meeting this next Wednesday because of the deacons' meeting.
